Recording Options and Collecting the Data
myflightdata.com™ provides a number of ways that you can use to input your flight data:
- Manual input via www.myflightdata.com web site
- Automatically on IFR flights
- Automatically using your cell phone with our SMS system
|
Manual Data Input
Each pilot will have a unique account under the operator account. After a flight or series of flights the pilot can simply log in and fill out the flight information, which will then populate the operators pilot and aircraft records. The operator can print the flight and duty time records as often as necessary for FAA required reporting and monitoring the flight and duty time.
Automatically Capturing IFR Flights
Each operator’s aircraft registration number is saved in the system. When the pilot files our system will pick up the aircraft information, date, times, departure/arrival points and save the information into the pilot and the operators account. All you or the pilot need to do is save or edit the information and the flight(s) will go into your records.
Typical Flight Scenario Using the System
- Flight plan is filed
- Chief Pilot assigns the crew
- Flight occurs
- Our system receives your flight information via the ATC system
- Log in and edit or accept flight history
- You can download and print your Flight and Duty time reports and Aircraft Maintenance Status reports or they can be delivered automatically via email, hard copy each month.
Using the SMS Sytem
The Simplified Messaging System (SMS) utilizes operator and pilot cell phones. Once the pilot files a flight plan, a message is sent the operators Chief Pilot (or designated Flight Locator). The Chief Pilot then reviews the flight information, selects a pilot from the list in the message (which designates the PIC for the flight) and presses send. That message will go into the myflightdata.com™ and check that the pilots flight and duty time as well as the aircraft maintenance status. If one of these items is not legal for the flight a message is returned to the Chief Pilot to check the discrepancy before the flight departs.
Typical VFR Flight Scenario
- Chief Pilots assigns the PIC and provides trip information
- Upon departure the pilot sends the SMS message to the system
- The system check the flight and duty times, and maintenance status, and then Chief Pilot is notified with a “Take Off” alert.
- Pilot sends a landing alert upon arrival. If the not sent 30 minutes past the ETA, the Chief Pilot receives an Overdue Aircraft alerts and must initiate the appropriate procedures.
- Log in and edit or accept flight history.
- You can down load and print your Flight and Duty time reports and Aircraft Maintenance Status reports or they can be delivered automatically via email, hard copy each month.

Completing the Reports
Reports should be reviewed as often as necessary to make sure that the pilot and aircraft regulatory (flight and duty) requirements are not exceeded. Each operator is different, the more you fly the more often you should print and review the flight activity reports. At a minimum reports should be printed once a month just in case your friendly FAA inspector happens to stop by.
NOTE: Flight history is only maintained as long as it is required to be available for 14 CFR Part 135. Records beyond that are permanently discarded from our system so if you keep your records longer you should maintain hard copies.
Customizing the Forms
Their several reports and forms that are available, and the number is growing based on customer requests. Currently the reports that are available in the system are those that are required by 14 CFR Part 135. The reports have a default design incorporated that will place your company name in the header automatically. You can also designate custom revision and/or form title information in the footer. Each time you print the form will have your custom information. If you would like to use your own logo you can simply upload it from the account management and operator profile page.

You can download sample information to customize and use below.
Revising Your General Operations Manual
If you are planning a revision to your manual you can download and use the sample information for the maintenance and recordkeeping.
